Applying soil amendments (a.k.a. fertilizer) without a soil test is a lot like trying to hit a bullseye with a bow and arrow blindfolded and drunk. Hundreds of your hard earned dollars can be quickly wasted on purchasing items that you may not need. Plus, over-application of these synthetic fertilizers can lead to harmful environmental impacts on the habitat. We never recommend applying synthetic fertilizers without first doing a soil test. Knowing your soil test results will allow you to know exactly what your planting area soils are lacking and will enable you to use the correct amounts of fertilizers (saving dough and the environment!) Crooked Bend is proud to provide these soil nutrient testing/evaluation services. Our lab results provide measurements of the key elements that provide the backbone to your plants’ development, growth and unleashing their full potential. Soil test results will be supplied via email approximately two to three weeks after soil sample is received at the lab. Great for gardens, food plots, and lawns! Here is how it works: after ordering your soil evaluation kit it will be quickly sent to you in the mail. Once received, you will go out to your planting area and collect five to ten random soil samples. Toss the five to ten soil samples into a clean bucket and mix them all together. Then fill up the “sample bag” to the marked line and seal it completely. Put that bag into the larger “containment bag” for extra protection. Then, ship it out along with the completed “soil testing order form” using the included prepaid mailing envelope. We will examine your soil and it’s overall functionality. After receiving the results from the lab, the Crooked Bend team will digitally provide you feedback and recommendations based on your situation to help improve your soil’s health by recommending soil amendments and with promoting soil health (with an ultimate goal of using less synthetic fertilizer).
