Water storing gel crystals
Reduce the amount of water needed to maintain vigorous plants. Soil Moist has been developed to reduce the amount of water needed to maintain vigorous plants and other green goods. When mixed in the soil, the crystals will soften and swell as water is added and absorbed. When the potting system dries, the polymer will release its water to the plant. Soil Moist acts as a water reservoir--even during periods of drought the stored water is released to the plant. The expansion and retraction of the polymer during the watering cycle helps soil aeration, which is important to all plants.
Soil Moist stores over 200 times its weight in tap water, releasing a steady supply of water as your plants need it. Soil Moist offers the following benefits:
Reduces plant waterings
Reduces evaporation of moisture from the soil
Time releases fertilizer and water
Encourages deep root penetration
Reduces soil compaction
Minimizes transplant shock
Lasts several seasons
Environmentally friendly
Broad Area Treatment - Flower Beds, Ornamental Gardens. Two methods available: sprinkle a small amount (1/2 tsp.) of Soil Moist Plus in the plant hole, plant and cover with soil or apply one and one half pounds per 100 square feet of ground area. Spread the polymer and work into the soil at a depth of three to four inches.
Turf/Sodding - Apply at a rate of nine pounds per 1000 square feet or 400 pounds per acre if worked into the soil at five to six inches. Use six to eight pounds per 1000 square feet (260 to 350 pounds per acre) if worked into the soil at three to four inches. Broadcast the polymer with a spreader or drop seeder for even disbursement. Work into the soil, spread seed or lay sod, roll and soak thoroughly.
Greenhouse - To use as a soil amendment, mix three pounds of Soil Moist Plus 7-7-7 per cubic yard of soil. Make sure the polymer is thoroughly mixed for even disbursement. Best results in mixing are achieved when the polymer is incorporated into the soil in the dry crystal form.
