What is BioChar DG?
BioChar DG is a soil amendment made from the carbon skeleton of wood, or other organic matter, through the process of super heating. Every small piece of biochar has millions of molecular bonding sites that hold water, nutrients, microbes, fungi, and bacteria that would otherwise be washed away or die from harsh conditions. Once introduced to your soil, biochar will stay for years, helping build the soil profile. BioChar DG applications result in rich, carbon-heavy soil that feeds itself and the plants growing in it.
Where to Use BioChar DG
Established Lawns
Unlike other biochar products, The Andersons BioChar DG can be effectively used on established lawns. Its dispersible granule technology allows the biochar to bypass the thatch layer of your lawn and immediately begin working in the soil.
Seeding and Gardens
BioChar DG contains karrikins that stimulate dormant seed germination and seedling growth. It will also help replenish garden soil by retaining water and nutrients, and providing ideal conditions for good microbes.
Landscaping
Adding BioChar DG to the root zone when planting trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and more can improve soil quality and create ideal growing conditions for the plant.
Composting
BioChar DG can be added to compost to increase temperatures and accelerate the composting processes. Applying BioChar DG to your compost can also help reduce odor.
